WHAT IS A VEHICLE SERVICE CONTRACT?

A vehicle service contract is an agreement to repair some or all of the defects associated with the vehicle on record. It can complement the manufacturer’s warranty that comes with most vehicles, as well.

MY VEHICLE COMES WITH A MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY. WHY SHOULD I BUY A VEHICLE SERVICE CONTRACT?

If you plan on keeping your vehicle past the manufacturer’s basic warranty and you want that added protection against the high costs of repairs, then a vehicle service contract is right for you. Most vehicles come with a 3 year/36,000 mile basic warranty and a 5 year/60,000 mile, 5 year/100,000 mile or 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain only warranty. Once your vehicle exceeds the basic warranty parameters, only your powertrain components are covered. Electrical, air conditioner, suspensions, steering, cooling and fuel system would all be susceptible to high repair costs that would need to be covered by you. If the manufacturer’s powertrain warranty has also expired, then you would be responsible for any engine, transmission, and drive axle repairs as well.

OK. I NEED A VSC. WHY SHOULD I PURCHASE YOURS?

All MBPI service contracts are underwritten by AM Best A rated carries. MBPI is an administrator of financial products and is rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau. MBPI has been in business for over 38 years and has administrated over 1 million service contracts. Besides offering protection against the high costs of repairs, MBPI service contracts also offer emergency roadside assistance, towing and rental car reimbursement.

WHAT IF I SELL MY VEHICLE? CAN I TRANSFER MY VSC?

You may transfer your VSC to the purchaser of your vehicle as long as it is not another dealer or lessor. Contact MBPI at
(800) 325-7484 for further instructions.

IS MY VSC CANCELABLE?

Yes. A VSC is cancelable at any time. If during the first 60 days you are unhappy with your purchase and no claims have been filed, you may receive a 100% refund. Afterwards, any cancellation that occurs will result in a pro rated refund (less any cancellation fee). Should you wish to cancel, please contact your selling dealership first.

CAN I FINANCE THE PURCHASE OF MY VSC?

Sure. Your VSC may be financed along with the purchase of your vehicle. If this is not possible, you may finance the service contract separately through MBP Finance. Please refer to the Finance section of our website for further information or call (800) 325-7484 and ask for the finance department.

HOW ARE REPAIR CLAIMS PROCESSED AND WHERE CAN I GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED?

We prefer you take your vehicle back to the selling dealership but we understand that this is not always a viable option. Therefore, you may take your vehicle to any franchise dealership or licensed repair facility in the United States or Canada. Once the vehicle is at the repair facility, the repair facility will work directly with our award winning claims department to quickly diagnose the problem, repair it, and get it back to you as soon as possible. We pay the repair facility directly with a check or credit card.

HOW DO I UTILIZE THE EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE?

Call SafeRide Motor Club, Inc.  at (866) 273-4699 and provide your contract number and/or your name. They will take care of towing, battery service, flat tire change, lock-out, and fuel delivery. They will also reimburse you for meals and lodging if the mechanical breakdown that is covered by your VSC occurs more than 100 miles from your home.

I LOST MY SERVICE CONTRACT. WHAT DO I DO?

You may call MBPI at (800) 325-7484 for another copy. If you are at the repair facility, they may also call MBPI and provide the last 6 numbers of your VIN along with your name for verification.

WHAT IS GAP?

In the event that your vehicle is deemed a constructive total loss, your auto insurance company covers the fair market or actual cash value of the vehicle at the time of loss. The amount you owe your lender may be more than your insurance settlement. This difference or GAP could cost you thousands of dollars! Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) waives the difference between your primary insurance settlement and the outstanding balance of your vehicle on the date of loss.

HOW MANY DAYS DO I HAVE TO REPORT A GAP CLAIM?

You have 90 days from the primary insurance carrier’s settlement date to report a GAP claim.

IF I REFINANCE, DOES GAP TRANSFER TO THE NEW LOAN?

Your GAP policy is a waiver and attached to your original loan, refinancing renders the policy unusable. If you refinance your vehicle, we encourage you to contact us at (800) 325-7484.

HOW DO I CANCEL GAP COVERAGE?

Please go to or call your selling dealership or the place you originally purchased the coverage and request the cancellation. If this is not possible, you may call MBPI GAP at (800) 325-7484.
